Hong Kong Carving Its Own Path of Repression

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive, John Lee, has announced plans to implement new national security legislation in 2024. The legislation, expected to further curtail civil freedoms, reiterates Hong Kong’s place in China’s national program and demonstrates the administration’s obedience to Beijing.
